Wellons Canada

Use waste heat streams to generate electricity or provide additional process or utility heat.

Wellons evaluates the feasibility of utilizing the waste heat stream from high-grade heat exhaust gases, turbine gasses, or a reciprocating engine to generate electricity or provide additional process or utility heat. Wellons will design, fabricate, and install Waste Heat Recovery Units (WHRU) for oil and gas facilities, pipeline compressor stations, or industrial sites.

Waste Heat Recovery

Process & Utility Heat

The waste heat can be used in a variety of industrial process such as building air heating or utility heat applications such as hot water for district heating.

Example Installation

Prince George, BC Canada

Downtown Renewable Energy System

Wellons Canada designed and installed a waste heat recovery system on an existing biofuel energy system to provide sufficient hot water for the base load space heating and domestic hot water requirements for 9 buildings in Prince George.

Wellons Canada scope included waste heat recovery unit, associated pumps and piping, a glycol-to-water heat exchanger, and an electrostatic precipitator.

Waste Heat Recovery

ORC Power Generation

Industrial waste heat assists in heating thermal oil for use in Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power generation applications. The energy in the waste heat stream is captured by way of an air to thermal oil heat exchanger and then transferred to the ORC evaporator (or through direct heat exchange to the organic working fluid).

ORC power generation technology can be designed and operated in two configurations – electrical power generation or in a combined heat and power (CHP) application. With electrical power generation, the cooling media can be water or air. With CHP, the cooling fluid is typically water and is at a sufficient temperature to meet space heating and drying requirements.
